Do you need information and feel you have nowhere to turn ?

Volunteers, at Contact Concern of Northeast Tennessee, Inc., are trained to meet the needs of those individuals who require information and referral to health and human services agencies.

Committed to confidentiality, volunteers listen 15 hours a day, 365 days a year to people who are calling for a variety of reasons.  There might be situations of abuse, loneliness, depression, need of temporary financial assistance, medical direction or support group information.  If needed, callers may receive crisis intervention.  Let CONTACT-CONCERN save you time and effort looking endlessly through the phonebook or yellow pages.  We can direct you to the appropriate agency to fulfill your need.

CONTACT-CONCERN also provides a reassurance call to the many elderly citizens in our coverage area.  The phone volunteer will call each day, or the days of our client choosing.  We call at a specific time each day to see how the client is doing and to listen to their needs. Call for available time slots.

In 2006, volunteers processed approximately 19,000 calls at CONTACT-CONCERN.  CONTACT-CONCERN also provides the answering services for a domestic violence shelter.  All it takes to receive assistance from CONTACT-CONCERN is to dial 2-1-1 from your land line or 423-246-2273 from a cell phone.

CONTACT-CONCERN serves more than 230,000 residents of Sullivan, Johnson, Hawkins, and Hancock Counties in northeast Tennessee.  Click here for information on 2-1-1 services in other Tennessee counties.

CONTACT-CONCERN is supported by the UNITED WAY, area COMMUNITY CHESTS, churches, caring individuals, and fundraising projects, such as our annual candle sale.  CONTACT-CONCERN welcomes your support. All gifts are tax deductible under IRS 501 (c) (3).

What is 2-1-1 ?

2-1-1 is the nation-wide abbreviated dialing code for free access to health and human service information and referral (I&R).  The Federal Communications Commission approved the designation of 2-1-1 to be used for this purpose ONLY.

Information & Referral (I&R) is the link between people in need of services and providers of information on such services.

The 2-1-1 call for (I&R) could be for information about shelters, food programs, financial assistance for utilities or medical expenses, counseling services, support groups, addiction prevention or treatment, and battered women's' shelters.

We are always looking for that special caring individual to become one of our volunteers, please call CONTACT-CONCERN today!  Training classes are forming soon, or click on the link above to the volunteering page.
